BuiltForProd Managed

Run it with us

Experienced production engineers who operate, secure and evolve your platform as an extension of your team. You build the product; Managed keeps production running.

What Managed is

BuiltForProd Managed is a recurring engineering service in which experienced production engineers operate, secure, upgrade and evolve your BuiltForProd platform as an extension of your team. They work through your own single sign-on groups, your pull requests, your CODEOWNERS and your pipelines. Nothing is applied from a laptop, and no separate access path is created.

They also start knowing the system, because they know the Standard it was built to. There is no discovery phase on every ticket and no engineer learning your landing zone at your expense.

If only one person knows how it works, it isn’t production-ready.

Three ways to work with us

Same engineers, same standard, three commitment levels.

Tier 1

On-Demand

Hours when you need them, billed as you use them, with a minimum of ten hours.

Scope
Individual requests: a change, a hard problem, a second opinion, help during an incident.
Service level
Best effort. No service level attached.
Channels
Email, Slack, video.
Suits
Teams who run the platform themselves and occasionally hit something they would rather not learn the hard way.
Tier 2

Support SLA

A pre-paid annual block of 100 hours, governed by the service levels in your agreement. Hours expire after a year.

Scope
Ongoing support of the delivered platform, upgrades included, plus audit and compliance work as it comes around.
Service level
Agreed in your contract, because the right target depends on what you run.
Channels
Email, Slack, video.
Suits
Teams that own production but want a committed response behind them, and predictable budget for it.
Tier 3

Team Augmentation

Dedicated engineers embedded in your team, part-time at four hours a day or full-time at eight, on a six- or twelve-month commitment, billed monthly.

Scope
Named engineers in your standups and your backlog, running the platform and raising it against the Standard.
Service level
Agreed capacity rather than a ticket queue.
Channels
Email, Slack, video.
Suits
Teams with no platform function, a platform lead still to be hired, or a platform team that has become a ticket queue.

Every tier is quoted per engagement. What shapes a quote · How support tiers and channels work.

The access model

The usual objection to outsourcing operations is that it widens the attack surface: a new set of credentials, a new path into production, another party who could be breached. Managed is built so that objection does not apply.

Our engineers become members of your groups. Every change they make goes through your pull request process, your CODEOWNERS review and your gated pipeline — which means every change they make also produces the same audit evidence as every change your own engineers make.

Not a black box you rent.

  • Your identity provider

Engineers sign in through your single sign-on, into the groups and permission sets you assign.

  • Your pull requests

Every change is proposed as a pull request with a plan attached and reviewed by your code owners.

  • Your pipelines

Applies run in your pipeline, with production gated by your required reviewers. Nothing runs from a laptop.

  • Your off switch

Access ends the moment you remove the group membership. No separate credential survives it.

What never moves to us

Your accounts

The cloud organization and every account in it stay yours, billed to you by your cloud provider.

Your root mailbox

The team-owned mailbox behind the management account is yours and stays yours.

Your repositories and data

The source and the data remain in your organization, under your license and your retention rules.

Final approval on production

A production change is applied when your reviewer approves it. That decision is never delegated to us.

Which tier fits

Questions about Managed

What is BuiltForProd Managed?

BuiltForProd Managed is a recurring engineering service in which experienced production engineers operate, secure, upgrade and evolve your BuiltForProd platform as an extension of your team, working through your own single sign-on groups, pull requests, CODEOWNERS and pipelines.

What access do your engineers get?

Only access you grant in your own identity provider, to the groups you choose, for as long as you choose. Nothing is applied from a laptop and no separate access path is created for us. When you remove the group membership, the access is gone.

Security and ownership

What is in scope?

The platform we delivered: the landing zone, the Blueprints, the pipelines and the documentation. That covers changes, upgrades, drift remediation, security and compliance switches, incident assistance and advice. Upgrades are included rather than sold as projects.

What are your response times?

Service levels are agreed in each customer agreement rather than published, because the right target depends on what you run and what it costs you when it stops. On-Demand is best effort with no service level; Support SLA is governed by the levels written into your agreement.

Do we need a BuiltForProd Baseline to buy Managed?

Managed is scoped to the BuiltForProd platform, so in practice it follows a Baseline. If you are running something else and want help, start with a BuiltForProd Assessment so we both know what we would be taking on before anyone commits.

The Assessment

How is this different from staff augmentation?

Our engineers bring a standard. Team Augmentation is not extra hands that follow an existing approach without question: the engineers apply the BuiltForProd Standard, and part of the work is raising the platform against it rather than only keeping the lights on.

Can we stop?

Yes, and leaving is designed to be uneventful. You already own the repositories and the accounts, every change we made arrived as a reviewed pull request in your history, and your team uses the same documentation ours does. There is no knowledge asymmetry to unwind.

Managed operates what the Baseline and the Blueprints deliver, to the Standard they were built to. If you are weighing it against hiring, the alternatives are compared here.
